Next Meeting taking place on Monday 14th May 2012 -find out more
We are asking the residents of Billinge and Orrell to make a pledge to incorporate one or more of the “12 things to do to move towards a low energy lifestyle” action points into their lives over the next 12 months. Once you've made your pledge you can make a salt dough number which when dried can be placed on the pledge tree!
This is a simple way of getting people involved in bettering their community!
If you you would like to make a pledge please fill in the form below! We want to keep things simple so we ask that you choose one pledge - if you're feeling adventurous then choose 2
We ask for your email so that we can inform you when your pledge has been confirmed - we will use it for no other purpose! If you would like to be involved in the Group then please complete the Survey.
Ingredients: 2 cups flour; 1 cup salt; 1/2 - 1 cup cold water
Directions: Mix salt and flour together. Gradually add 1/2 cup of water and mix to desired consistency. Knead the dough on a flat surface, adding more water if needed (but not making it too moist). Divide the dough up into small portions to roll into 1/8" thick pieces with a rolling pin. Use cookie cutters to cut out a variety of shapes, and place the shapes on wax paper or other surface to dry. If you want to make hanging ornaments, pierce the dough through with a toothpick while it's wet. Allow the shapes to dry for a day or two, turning them over periodically to speed up the drying process. You may need to re-pierce the hole several times during the drying process.
Baking Alternative: As an alternative to air-drying, you can bake the shapes at 95 ̊ C until hard. Baking times vary depending on oven and dough thickness. Make sure the dough is completely baked. You can cover the dough with aluminium foil if it starts to darken before being completely baked through.
