This section of the website is all about the great things that are being done on a local level to raise the profile of sustainability and the Transition Town movement! If you have something that you'd like to shout about then do let us know! It could be anything;
These pictures show the development of the St. Lukes Allotments from bare ground to in use and ready to plant! We'll be adding more pictures of the allotments in action soon!

The Transition Group launched the Salt Dough Pledges campaign at the Churches Together Harvest Outreach in Orrell on Saturday 2nd October. Local residents who came to our stall made pledges to incorporate one or more of the "12 things to do to move towards a low energy lifestyle” action points into their lives over the next 12 months.
We took a batch of salt dough to the event and as people chose their pledges they rolled out the dough and used the number cutters to cut out the number that corresponded to their pledge. After drying, these numbers joined others hanging on our pledge tree. Find out more on the Make a Pledge Page
We expected the activity to be a big hit with the children who visited our stall but it was the adults who seemed to gain the most enjoyment out of playing with the dough!
Make your pledge on the "Make a Pledge" page. Help fill the pledge tree and be a part of making our community fit for the future.
A big seed giveaway was held in Church Street, Orrell, through the combined efforts of the Billinge and Orrell Transition Group and Orrell in Bloom. Together they bought and packaged up six types of vegetable seeds to give away to local residents in an effort to encourage them to start ‘growing their own’. Each visitor to the stand could claim up to three packets of seeds ready for planting in March. Pictured presenting the seeds to Alison, Sarah and Geoff Chadwick from Milcroft Avenue in Orrell is Charlotte Case, a member of the Orrell in Bloom group.
